Ohio's Medical Marijuana Law
On June 8, 2016, Gov. John Kasich signed House Bill 523 into law, making Ohio the 25th state in the nation to adopt a comprehensive and workable medical marijuana law.
The Ohio Legislature approved House Bill 523 in May 2016 in response to growing pressure from the state’s strong community of patients and advocates, as well as a constitutional voter initiative proposed by Ohioans for Medical Marijuana, which was backed by the Marijuana Policy Project. Once the bill passed, the campaign was suspended.
